Refresher Courses
Do you:
Hate driving and scare yourself stiff (and others) every time you take to the road?
Drive around the block even though it takes you an extra 3 miles, rather than turn in the road or reverse into an opening?
Only ever park going in forwards, and would never attempt it between two cars?
Avoid driving on the mainland, especially on motorways or in cities?
We can tell you that you’re not the only one, in fact many people can relate to at least one if not all of the above.
As with any skill you can only enjoy doing it if you can do it reasonably well, and this is the same with driving. It maybe that you have driven for 20, 30 or more years but have not benefited for one reason or another, you may have only had one year twenty or thirty times over! Usually this could be that you were trained, but only enough to pass the test at that time, you may not have been familiar with why you had to do things in a certain order, and the benefits if you do. It could be that you are being too prescriptive about some situations on the road, a common one is “That was MY right of way!” You may get demoralised with other drivers and not know how to cope with them.
It is a fact that you can be trained to improve. We pride ourselves in training people as ‘Drivers’ and not just training in the black and white rules of the road. Some of the benefits of driver improvement are:
Improved hazard perception and planning skills.
A brisk business-like and decisive drive for hesitant drivers.
Improved consideration for others and their limitations
How to cope with aggressive drivers
An introduction to Eco-safe driving including smoother use of the controls, and 10% improved economy from your vehicle.
Optional training on the mainland to include motorways, faster out-of-town roads, route planning and city driving.
Renewed enthusiasm to put your skills into use and lose the fear of driving.
One thing we will never do when we assess your drive for the first time is shake our heads and ‘tut’. We recognise that you have already had doubts about your driving and have already done the responsible thing by contacting us. There is no set course for improvement as people and their circumstances are many and varied. Most people stop training as soon as they feel their confidence grow, and actually enjoy getting into the drivers seat. Call us to today for an informal chat if you have any concerns about this whatsoever.
